What is Ambroxol Hydrochloride?

Ambroxol Hydrochloride is a mucolytic agent used primarily to treat respiratory diseases associated with thick mucus. It works by breaking down and thinning mucus in the airways, making it easier to cough out. It also has mild local anesthetic and anti-inflammatory properties, which can relieve throat irritation and support recovery in acute and chronic bronchopulmonary conditions.

Uses of Ambroxol Hydrochloride :-

  • Acute and chronic bronchitis
  • Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
  • Bronchial asthma (with mucus buildup)

Common Side Effects :-

  • Nausea
  • Dry mouth
  • Taste disturbances
  • Gastrointestinal discomfort

Precautions & Warnings :-

  • Use with caution in patients with gastric ulcers.
  • Not recommended in children under 2 without medical advice.
  • Maintain adequate hydration to support mucus clearance.
