What is Amlodipine Besylate?

Amlodipine Besylate is a calcium channel blocker that relaxes and widens blood vessels to improve blood flow and reduce blood pressure. It is commonly prescribed for the treatment of hypertension and angina (chest pain), helping to prevent strokes and heart attacks. Amlodipine works by inhibiting the influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle, resulting in vasodilation without significantly affecting heart rate.

Uses of Amlodipine Besylate :-

  • High blood pressure (hypertension)
  • Chronic stable angina
  • Vasospastic (Prinzmetal's) angina

Common Side Effects :-

  • Swelling of ankles or feet
  • Dizziness
  • Fatigue
  • Flushing

Precautions & Warnings :-

  • Use with caution in liver disease.
  • May cause low blood pressure or worsening chest pain when starting.
  • Avoid grapefruit juice as it may increase drug levels.
