What is Aripiprazole?

Aripiprazole is an atypical antipsychotic used to manage schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and as an adjunct in major depressive disorder. It works by partially stimulating dopamine and serotonin receptors, helping to stabilize mood and reduce hallucinations or delusions with fewer sedation effects than older antipsychotics.

Uses of Aripiprazole :-

  • Schizophrenia
  • Bipolar I disorder
  • Adjunctive treatment in depression

Common Side Effects :-

  • Restlessness
  • Weight gain
  • Insomnia

Precautions & Warnings :-

  • Monitor for suicidal thoughts in young patients.
  • May increase blood sugar and cholesterol.
  • Use cautiously in elderly with dementia-related psychosis.
