What is Bupropion Hydrochloride?

Bupropion Hydrochloride is an atypical antidepressant used for the treatment of depression and as a support medication for smoking cessation. It works by affecting neurotransmitters involved in mood and cravings.

Uses of Bupropion Hydrochloride :-

  • Major depressive disorder (MDD)
  • Seasonal affective disorder (SAD)
  • Assistance with smoking cessation

Common Side Effects :-

  • Dry mouth
  • Insomnia
  • Dizziness
  • Anxiety
  • Weight loss

Precautions & Warnings :-

  • Increases the risk of seizures, especially at higher doses.
  • Should be avoided in individuals with seizure disorders or eating disorders such as bulimia or anorexia.
  • May cause suicidal thoughts in some individuals, particularly younger patients at the beginning of treatment.
  • Patients should be monitored for changes in mood or behavior.
