What is Cefadroxil?

Cefadroxil is a first-generation cephalosporin antibiotic that fights bacteria by interfering with the formation of their cell walls. It is structurally related to penicillins and is effective against a wide range of gram-positive bacteria and some gram-negative organisms. It’s commonly used for skin infections, urinary tract infections, and throat infections due to its good oral absorption and safety profile.

Uses of Cefadroxil :-

  • Skin and soft tissue infections
  • Urinary tract infections
  • Pharyngitis and tonsillitis

Common Side Effects :-

  • Nausea
  • Diarrhea
  • Rash
  • Abdominal pain

Precautions & Warnings :-

  • Use with caution in penicillin-allergic patients.
  • Renal dose adjustment may be needed.
  • Complete the full course to avoid resistance.
