What is Cetirizine Dihydrochloride?

Cetirizine is a second-generation antihistamine that blocks the H1 histamine receptor to relieve allergy symptoms like sneezing, itching, watery eyes, and runny nose. Unlike first-generation antihistamines, it has minimal sedative effects, making it suitable for daytime use in the treatment of seasonal allergic rhinitis, chronic urticaria, and other allergic skin conditions.

Uses of Cetirizine Dihydrochloride :-

  • Allergic rhinitis (hay fever)
  • Chronic urticaria (hives)
  • Allergic skin reactions

Common Side Effects :-

  • Drowsiness (mild)
  • Dry mouth
  • Fatigue
  • Headache

Precautions & Warnings :-

  • Use caution when operating machinery if drowsiness occurs.
  • Adjust dose in kidney impairment.
  • Not recommended for children under 2 without medical advice.
