What is Clavulanate Potassium?

Clavulanate Potassium is a beta-lactamase inhibitor used in combination with penicillins like amoxicillin to overcome bacterial resistance. It works by blocking the action of beta-lactamase enzymes that some bacteria produce to destroy antibiotics. It has no antibacterial activity on its own but enhances the spectrum of penicillin-class drugs.

  • Skin infections
  • UTIs

Common Side Effects :-

  • Nausea
  • Diarrhea
  • Rash

Precautions & Warnings :-

  • Liver function should be monitored during treatment.
  • May cause allergic reactions when combined with penicillins.
  • Use under medical supervision.
