What is Clotrimazole?

Clotrimazole is a broad-spectrum antifungal medication used topically or orally to treat various fungal infections. It works by disrupting the fungal cell membrane through inhibition of ergosterol synthesis, which is essential for fungal cell viability. Commonly used for skin, vaginal, and oral fungal infections, it provides effective relief from itching, burning, and irritation.

Uses of Clotrimazole :-

  • Athlete's foot, ringworm, jock itch
  • Vaginal yeast infections
  • Oral thrush (lozenges or troches)

Common Side Effects :-

  • Skin irritation or redness
  • Burning or stinging sensation
  • Mild itching

Precautions & Warnings :-

  • For external use only (unless using oral form).
  • Avoid contact with eyes.
  • Complete the full course even if symptoms improve early.
