What is Desloratadine?

Desloratadine is a long-acting, non-sedating second-generation antihistamine that blocks peripheral H1 receptors. It is used to relieve allergy symptoms like sneezing, nasal congestion, and itching without causing drowsiness. As the active metabolite of loratadine, it offers faster onset and longer duration of action.

Uses of Desloratadine :-

  • Allergic rhinitis
  • Chronic urticaria
  • Seasonal allergies

Common Side Effects :-

  • Headache
  • Dry mouth
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle pain

Precautions & Warnings :-

  • Safe for use in most adults and children over 6 months.
  • Use cautiously in liver disease.
  • Rarely causes sleepiness.
