What is Esomeprazole?

Esomeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that decreases acid production in the stomach. It is used to treat conditions such as GERD, ulcers, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It provides long-lasting relief by blocking the final step of acid secretion in gastric parietal cells.

Uses of Esomeprazole :-

  • GERD
  • Gastric and duodenal ulcers
  • Acid reflux

Common Side Effects :-

  • Headache
  • Nausea
  • Abdominal pain

Precautions & Warnings :-

  • Long-term use may reduce calcium and magnesium levels.
  • May increase risk of C. difficile infection.
  • Use with caution in liver impairment.
