What is Gliclazide?

Gliclazide is a sulfonylurea oral antidiabetic drug that stimulates pancreatic beta cells to release insulin. It is known for its moderate risk of hypoglycemia and is often used in patients with type 2 diabetes not controlled on Metformin alone. It also has antioxidant and vascular protective effects.

Uses of Gliclazide :-

  • Control of blood sugar in type 2 diabetes

Common Side Effects :-

  • Hypoglycemia
  • Nausea
  • Dizziness

Precautions & Warnings :-

  • Take with food to avoid low blood sugar.
  • Avoid in type 1 diabetes or severe liver/kidney disease.
  • Monitor blood glucose regularly.
