What is Indapamide?

Indapamide is a thiazide-like diuretic that helps reduce blood pressure by removing excess salt and water from the body while also directly relaxing blood vessels. Unlike typical diuretics, it has both diuretic and vasodilatory properties, making it effective in treating hypertension and edema without significantly disturbing electrolyte balance.

Uses of Indapamide :-

  • High blood pressure (hypertension)
  • Fluid retention (edema) due to heart failure

Common Side Effects :-

  • Dizziness
  • Headache
  • Muscle cramps
  • Low potassium levels

Precautions & Warnings :-

  • Monitor electrolytes and kidney function.
  • Caution in patients with gout or diabetes.
  • May increase sensitivity to sunlight.
