What is Levosalbutamol?

Levosalbutamol (also called levalbuterol) is a short-acting beta-2 agonist bronchodilator used to relieve bronchospasm in conditions like asthma and COPD. It is the active (R)-isomer of salbutamol, offering similar bronchodilation with fewer side effects like tremors and palpitations. It relaxes the airway muscles, making breathing easier during an asthma attack or exacerbation.

Uses of Levosalbutamol :-

  • Bronchial asthma
  • Acute exacerbation of COPD
  • Exercise-induced bronchospasm

Common Side Effects :-

  • Tremor
  • Headache
  • Nervousness
  • Palpitations

Precautions & Warnings :-

  • Not a substitute for long-term asthma control medication.
  • Use with caution in patients with heart disease or hyperthyroidism.
  • Overuse may lead to reduced effectiveness and increased side effects.
