What is Lurasidone?

Lurasidone is an atypical antipsychotic approved for the treatment of schizophrenia and bipolar depression. It works by modulating dopamine and serotonin receptors, which helps stabilize mood and reduce hallucinations or delusions. It has a relatively lower risk of metabolic side effects compared to other antipsychotics.

Uses of Lurasidone :-

  • Schizophrenia
  • Bipolar depression

Common Side Effects :-

  • Nausea
  • Restlessness
  • Sleep disturbances

Precautions & Warnings :-

  • Take with food for proper absorption.
  • May increase risk of suicidal thoughts in adolescents.
  • Not recommended in patients with severe liver impairment.
