What is Mebendazole?

Mebendazole is an anthelmintic agent primarily used to treat gastrointestinal worm infections. It disrupts the energy metabolism of helminths by blocking glucose uptake, which eventually leads to their immobilization and death. It is effective against a range of intestinal parasites and is especially preferred for treating children due to its mild side-effect profile.

Uses of Mebendazole :-

  • Roundworm, pinworm, whipworm, and hookworm infections
  • Mixed intestinal helminth infestations

  • Stomach cramps

  • Mild rash
