Mefenamic Acid

What is Mefenamic Acid?

Mefenamic Acid is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that is commonly used to relieve mild to moderate pain, especially menstrual cramps (dysmenorrhea) and musculoskeletal discomfort. It works by blocking the enzyme cyclooxygenase (COX), which is involved in the synthesis of prostaglandins—chemicals that cause pain, inflammation, and fever. Due to its targeted effect and quick onset, it's often prescribed for short-term pain management.
