What is Miconazole Nitrate?

Miconazole Nitrate is an imidazole antifungal used topically and in oral gels to treat skin and mucosal fungal infections. It works by interfering with fungal cell membrane synthesis and is particularly effective against Candida and dermatophyte infections. It also has antibacterial properties, making it suitable for mixed infections.

Uses of Miconazole Nitrate :-

  • Athlete's foot, jock itch, ringworm
  • Oral thrush (gel)
  • Vaginal candidiasis

Common Side Effects :-

  • Burning, stinging, or itching at application site
  • Dryness
  • Mild skin irritation

Precautions & Warnings :-

  • External use only (except oral/vaginal forms).
  • Avoid tight-fitting clothing on affected area.
  • Complete the treatment course.
