What is Ondansetrone HCL?

Ondansetron is a selective 5-HT3 receptor antagonist used to prevent nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy, radiation, or surgery. It works by blocking serotonin receptors in the gut and brain responsible for triggering vomiting.

Uses of Ondansetrone HCL :-

  • Chemotherapy-induced nausea
  • Postoperative nausea
  • Radiation therapy-related nausea

Common Side Effects :-

  • Headache
  • Constipation
  • Fatigue

Precautions & Warnings :-

  • May prolong QT interval - use caution in heart patients.
  • Adjust dose in liver dysfunction.
  • Avoid combining with other serotonin-affecting drugs.
