What is Pioglitazone HCL?

Pioglitazone is a thiazolidinedione that improves insulin sensitivity in peripheral tissues and the liver. It works by activating PPAR-γ receptors, promoting glucose uptake without stimulating insulin secretion. Pioglitazone is used in type 2 diabetes, often in combination with other antidiabetic agents when monotherapy is insufficient.

Uses of Pioglitazone HCL :-

  • Type 2 diabetes management, especially in insulin resistance

Common Side Effects :-

  • Weight gain
  • Fluid retention
  • Muscle pain

Precautions & Warnings :-

  • Not recommended in patients with heart failure.
  • Monitor liver function and signs of bladder cancer.
  • Use with caution in osteoporosis.
