What is Salbutamol?

Salbutamol, also known as albuterol, is a fast-acting beta-2 adrenergic receptor agonist used for the relief and prevention of bronchospasm in asthma, COPD, and other airway-obstructive conditions. It works by relaxing the smooth muscles of the airways, providing quick relief from wheezing, shortness of breath, and chest tightness. It is available in inhaler, tablet, and syrup forms.

Uses of Salbutamol :-

  • Acute asthma attacks
  • Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
  • Bronchospasm due to allergens or exertion

Common Side Effects :-

  • Tremors
  • Palpitations
  • Headache
  • Nervousness

Precautions & Warnings :-

  • Use with caution in cardiovascular disorders.
  • Do not exceed the prescribed dose.
  • Overuse can cause paradoxical bronchospasm.
