What is Serratiopeptidase?

Serratiopeptidase is an enzyme derived from silkworms that has anti-inflammatory, anti-edemic, and fibrinolytic properties. It works by breaking down abnormal proteins and reducing swelling at the site of inflammation, promoting quicker healing. Unlike NSAIDs, it doesn’t cause gastric irritation, making it suitable for post-surgical swelling, trauma, or chronic inflammatory conditions.

Uses of Serratiopeptidase :-

  • Post-operative inflammation
  • Muscle injuries
  • Throat swelling
  • Sinusitis

Common Side Effects :-

  • Skin rash
  • Stomach upset
  • Nausea (rare)

Precautions & Warnings :-

  • Use cautiously in patients with bleeding disorders.
  • Not recommended during pregnancy.
  • Should be used under medical supervision.
