What is Simvastatin?

Simvastatin is a statin that lowers LDL cholesterol and triglycerides while modestly raising HDL cholesterol. It helps reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke by slowing the buildup of plaque in arteries. It works by inhibiting the enzyme HMG-CoA reductase in the liver.

Uses of Simvastatin :-

  • High cholesterol
  • Prevention of cardiovascular events

  • Muscle aches
  • Headache
  • Indigestion
  • Liver enzyme changes

Precautions & Warnings :-

  • Avoid grapefruit juice.
  • Monitor for muscle weakness or pain.
  • Not safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
