What is Ticagrelor?

Ticagrelor is an antiplatelet medication that prevents blood clots by inhibiting the P2Y12 receptor on platelets. It is commonly prescribed after heart attacks or stent placement to reduce the risk of recurrent cardiovascular events. Unlike clopidogrel, it acts faster and does not require metabolic activation.

Uses of Ticagrelor :-

  • Acute coronary syndrome
  • Post-angioplasty or stent placement

Common Side Effects :-

  • Bleeding
  • Shortness of breath
  • Dizziness
  • Headache

Precautions & Warnings :-

  • Avoid if there is active bleeding.
  • Caution with other blood thinners.
  • Monitor for signs of bleeding or low heart rate.
