Tinidazole

What is Tinidazole?

Tinidazole is an antiprotozoal and antibacterial agent used to treat infections caused by protozoa and anaerobic bacteria. It is structurally related to metronidazole and works by damaging the DNA of microbial cells. Though not a true antifungal, it is often grouped with them in formulations for treating mixed infections, especially in the urogenital tract.

Uses of Tinidazole :-

  • Bacterial vaginosis
  • Amoebiasis and giardiasis
  • Trichomoniasis

Common Side Effects :-

  • Metallic taste
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Dizziness

Precautions & Warnings :-

  • Avoid alcohol during and for 72 hours after treatment.
  • Caution in patients with CNS disorders.
  • Not recommended during the first trimester of pregnancy.
